The Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG) is a competetive grant awarded to communities and agencies through the Texas Department of Housing and Urban Development. Emergency Solutions Grant funds may be used for those persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In 2014 the City of Amarillo was selected to recieve $92,024 in ESG funds.
The following agencies were awarded 2014 ESG funds:
Family Support Services – Emergency Shelter Operations $11,500
The Salvation Army – Homelessness Prevention $32,660
The Salvation Army – Homeless Rapid Re-Housing $32,660
The Salvation Army – Emergency Shelter Operations $10,000
The Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) may pay up to six months of an applicant’s gas or electric utility. Contact Panhandle Community Services, 1309 SW 8th Ave., 806-372-2531 for eligibility and application information.
